For those who like nature, Hacienda los Sueños is situated amongst the most beautiful tropical forests of Costa Rica. The jungle-covered mountains that rise steeply from the palm-lined beaches, are populated with a vast diversity of exotic animals such as sloths, toucans, coatis, macaws and monkeys, and are adorned with the most spectacular waterfalls.

All this is easily accessible by car, by horseback riding or even walking. Most of the tour organizers include the cost of transport in their excursion prices.

The many islands are a diver's paradise.

If you like horse-riding, do not miss the chance to visit the rainforest, the waterfalls and the beaches with one of the local tour operators that offer tours on horseback.

For surfers, the beaches in the vicinity of Dominical offer world-class conditions.

Deep sea fishermen are attracted to the local waters which are teaming with Dorado, Sailfish and many other game fish.

The fauna sanctuary Hacienda Baru with ecological excursions, offer unique trips in the rainforest such as the "Flight of the Toucan" which allows you to fly through the rainforest on zip-lines.

Southern Expeditions offer many excursions along the coast in the National Park of Manuel Antonio to the north of Dominical down to the Corcovado National Park in the south. The Corcovado National Park has the largest population of Macaws in Costa Rica.

Jaime Tours, Southern Expeditions and Mystic Dive Center offer deep sea diving at Cano Island.

If you like horse riding you should not miss the Nauyaca Waterfalls tour at Don Lulo where you can ride on horseback through the forest to swim in a deep pool at the foot of beautiful waterfalls.

Less than 15 minutes from the hotel by car, are the beaches Tortuga, Ventanas (shown in this photograph), Piñuela, Ballena and Uvita.

The beaches near Dominical offer world-class surfing. If you have never surfed but would like to learn, or if you would like to improve your surfing ability, surfing clinics are offered by Green Iguana Surf Camp, Angels Surf Camp, and Wild Waters.

You can hire surfboards at Tree of Life and Pyramis.

Kayaking excursions along the coast as well as in the mangroves are offered by Southern Expeditions and other tour operators in the area.
